Got a scope for my .22, in the past, I have always just sighted it in at 10-20 paces, about where I would expect to shoot a bunny. I am curious if there is an ideal range for sighting in a .22 to give you the maximum range without compensating.

Any ideas?

You could do the 20-60 sight in(your center bull @ 20 and 60 yds), fits most 36-40 gr High Vel. ammo.
Not sure I understand what you are saying.... where do I put my target? At 60? At 20? and I should be sighted in for both? I do undersatnd a little bit about bullet drop and distance between the scope and bore... but hard to picture sometimes.

You could use your reticle for different ranges, it will just take some trial and error.

I zero using the crosshairs at 100 yards . Out to 50 yards I use the point of the upper post of a duplex reticle and at 150 yards I use the point of the lower post of the reticle. It gets me very close to where I want to hit.

I have a 4x-12x scope and use the 6x setting.

This system works for me and I use it on the sillouette range. Better than holding over.

A 50 Meter Zero is about Perfect for Bunnies. Your actually good to almost a 100 anyways as the scope is higher then the bore it's still climbing at 50;)
Zero it at your chosen range(my 22 it's 50m) then print it on paper for the rest...only way to know for sure but my 22 Mauser Zero'd at 50 is only an inch low at a 100 anyways :)

I also sight my .22 in for 50 yards.... seems like a fairly easy distance to judge, so if it's bit further, I aim a bit higher.

So now you understand the 20/60 rule. :) Works great , and puts the long 100 meter shot 4-5 inches low. Which is easy to cope with. Its a 22 after all, and you want to be on the money up close , and the same just out @ 60 meters for those long shots on rabbit......Target shooters sight in at 50 meters for that sort of shooting, but hunters will change that a bit.
My 2 cents on LR sight in.
