Sighting in a Mosin-Nagant

Has anyone actually sighted in their Mosin-Nagant by adjusting the front sight? Or do most just leave theirs as is despite accuracy?

If so, were you able to dial it in and increase accuracy by much?

hammer and sickle works best, and you will be able to adjust it to one vodka bottle at 10 feet
 
They are inherently accurate rifles so why not zero it? One of the original Soviet front sight tools works best for moving right or left but I've also clamped the muzzle in a vice (brass blocks holding the sight base) and tapped it over with a drift. Vertical adjustments are a bit tougher. Like most of the refurb SVT 40's I've owned, some Mosin refurbs didn't appear to be zeroed at the arsenal (or are, perhaps, zeroed for use of bayonet).

Yes.

Also: adjusting your sights does nothing for accuracy, it just moves your POA.
 
I typically use a good ol brass punch and hammer right on the shooting bench! Works every time. I did buy one of those adjustment tools which was nice but it marked the side of the sight more than my brass punch.
 
I have ordered a front sight adjusting tool so will see how it works but the brass punch idea may work too... Will have to give both a try. Haven't tried moving my sight yet so not sure how stiff or seized they are at first.
