Hello everyone,

I am reasonably new to shooting and sighting in, and wanted to know if anyone has experience shooting a No.I Mk.III Enfield, and getting some really good groups on iron sites? What kind of groups can be expected off a 1917 manufactured rifle of this kind at 50 yards? 150? 300? I took it to the range and fired off a a few shots of my own handloads, then compared to the Winchester Super X .303 British hunting ammunition. I obtained a 3.5 inch group at 50 yards on iron sites with that ammo, but couldn't seem to get much at 150. How do I site it in and what's the recipe for getting good groupings on irons? Thanks!

Yours,
Drachenblut

Sight in at 25 yds and then move back to 100. Roughly speaking, if its on at 25 it will hit in the same place at 100. Remember, you are shooting a 93 year old battle rifle built by a country that had been fighting a war for 3 years. Don't expect laser beam accuracy. Lots of things affect the accuracy of these old rifles. They have been cleaned many times and the crown on some of them is less than could be desired. 3" groups at 100 yds would be pretty good. Anything less would be great. If its throwing rounds all over the paper check the muzzle crown, it may need to be recrowned or counterbored.
