Please realize I am a new handgun owner - first one- so this question may be stupid.
When I have purchased rifles and put scopes on them, the first thing I do is sight them in before taking them hunting, using a benchrest.
So, how does one go about sighting in a handgun to ensure the adjustable sights are zeroed in on the bullseye assuming a 6 o'clock sighting picture? I failed to ask this at my handgun orientation course.

Sit down at the bench. Rest hands/firearm over bags. It's the same.
