Sighting in my new Mosin

Hello everyone,

I am hitting the range tomorrow to site in my new Mosin Nagant M-38 Carbine, how do I site this rifle in for 150 meters? I was considering adjusting the rear site to 150 and playing with the front windage with a hammer and punch + wood. What kind of site picture do I want? Any other adjustments? Is there varience in accuracy with different ammos or is it more the shooter's skill? My bore is mirror shiny and has about 70 to 80% rifling.

I took my Moisn out for the first time last weekend and found I was shooting at least 18 inches high at 100 yards with the rear sight set at 100. That was using Brown Bear FMJ. Sight Pictures :
