this being the case how do military snipers maintain accurate shots in a combat situation with a hot barrel? do they use superior barrels?
I'm no military expert, but from the little I know:
- The vast majority of a sniper's time is spent observing (reconnaissance), not shooting
- When they do shoot, it's often at select, high-priority targets (officers), which are few, and therefore don't call for much shooting
- They won't shoot off many rounds, lest they give away their position
- They don't aim for quarter sized targets - generally somewhere on the torso will suffice (in contrast to Police snipers, who have to aim carefully for the "lights out" effect)
Basically, their barrels have plenty of time to cool off, and the targets aren't
that small compared to what some other types of shooters go for.
That's what I know from the Discovery Channel lol. I hope that explains things without getting too morbid at the end there
