Had a frustrating day at the range yesterday sighting in my wife's new 20g mossberg 500 rifled barrel, nikon prostaff scope, with slugs. I was shooting both lightfield and hornady sabots.
Got it on paper at 25yds went out to 75 yds with 2" groups using the lightfields dead on center. At 100yds I wasn't even on paper! Here's where it gets wierd, fired 7 shots at 100yds with no adjustment from a solid sand bag rest, the slugs were all over the place for the first 4 shots (no cleaning in between), atleast 12" apart, the final 3 shots made one hole, 1-2" group dead on. I can 't figure this out and am new to slugs. Could this be the plastic fowling from sabots or should I be looking somewhere else??? Thanks.
