Lots and lots of google searches has brought no real answer.

How are you suppose to place your target in the sight of an SKS (an SKS manual quote would be nice)? Left or right or something else completely?

Green is the rear sight, blue is the front sight, red & black is the target.

Thanks!!

Depends on how you shoot. Some people do a 6 o'clock hold (left pic), some people prefer a centre hold (right pic). Adjust it to how you shoot, not the other way around, if at all possible.

x2-I prefer the 6 o'clock-but thats just me...

sorry-I might add-I do that for scope zero as well-so I can see the entire target-again-just my preference for my aging eyeballs...

The six o'clock position will work if you only plan on shooting paper at the range.

However,if you plan on hunting deer with your sks then the centre of mass (right) option would be a better choice.

Aiming at a deers belly at 50 yards is not the same as aiming at a deers belly 150 yards.

and please don't shoot a deer in the belly....lol

To each their own with the 6oclock sighting but I dislike it because "the point of impact is an unspecified distance from the point of aim, which makes precise aiming impossible." Quote: Some website.
Thank you all for the responses! Right it is, if I want to use the rear sight elevator. :)
