Hi,

I'm looking at buying a new scope for my .308 and right now I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive. Was looking at the Sightmark Triple Duty 10-40x56 MDD for $440 shipped or the Triple Duty 8.5-25x50 MDD for $320 shipped. Does anyone have any experience with these scopes, recommendations between the two of them, and possibly similarly priced alternatives.

Cheers

If you can spend $440 on a Sightmark, you can spend that on a Leupold or a Vortex.

But that's my biased opinion.

That the decision I need to make now, the Sightmark at 400$ has the target turrets and the parallax, a similar priced Vortex or Leupold is much more basic from what I have seen so far.

At that price, they have to have cut corners somewhere. I've never even heard of them before, but I would want hands-on experience before buying.

I would love to get hands on with one, I don't think any of the dealers around my area have them. I was hoping someone on here would have some experience with them.

They are a little known line of optics. They may be a decent scope but what are the warranty issues like? Also if you try to sell it used at a latter dale it will have little or no value. Phil.

Yeah I'm thinking I'm just going to keep an eye on the EE and get something I know 100% I will be satisfied with instead of taking a gamble. Thanks gents for the advice.

Similarly priced name brand scopes aren't more basic. You're getting better glass, better internals, better QC, a warranty center that isn't run by ex-walmart employees who can't pass a drug test, and most importantly you're not wasting money on junk that will be replaced as soon as you figure out what quality optics are all about. I'd say name brand optics have more features and value that I actually want. Proposing cheap scopes is proposing spending more money to get what you want than is necessary.

I looked at them a the Calgary gun show . In my opinion they felt like junk the the turrets were very mushy feeling I think you would be wasting your money.
