Hey, just wondering whether you guys think the new version of this scope is worth the extra $$$ the only difference I see is FFP. I currently have a bushnell 10x42 SFP and don't know how (if?) this will affect me.
I'll be hunting and plinking with this on my 280 AI. The long term goal is some long range stuff out west.

Thoughts welcome.

My thought are that the scope is a GREAT addition. 1K, FFP, decent reticle, it's in mils, Sightron's glass quality. The only omission I can see is the lack of the xmastree reticle.

I believe it will be a winner. Yeah, there are other choices that have the same features and include a xmastree reticle, but they cost a bunch more cash.

my .02

Is there any reason you would want FFP on a Duplex Reticle?

One of the biggest advantages of FFP reticles is the ability to range a target using the hash marks or dots at ANY power setting without the reticle subtentions shifting their absolute value.
I can’t see an advantage of FFP on a reticle with only 3 points of reference on it.

If your main use is hunting and/or plinking, I would stay with your Bushnell scope. It's fine out to 500y/m. The Sightron is definitely a superior scope, but will only make a significant difference if you get into some serious competition long range shooting. I would wait until you figure out what kind of LR competitions you'd want to participate in. F-class, PR or PRS all have their own requirements. Learn to shoot accurately with your existing setup before spending big $$$.

I wouldn't want a FFP scope for hunting. I run a 8-32x56 SIII and it has been a good scope. Parallax knob turns very hard though.

FFP on everything, even on a BDC set up. Most of my hunting is done at 3x-10x I want my hold overs to be correct regardless of magnification setting.

I have 1 FFP scope and I probably would never buy another one.
Main drawbacks are at lower 1/3 power range the reticle is useless for ranging or even aiming.
At long range it's always set to max power just like my SFP are so no advantage there.
If target shooting known distances there is no advantage of FFP.
Yes you can "range" quicker with FFP, if you are comfortable and confident enough in it, I'd rather use a laser rangefinder in the field personally as it's going to be more accurate.

I have an slll 6to24, something like that, FFpI can’t see the damn retical less than about 12 power on any kind of practical target. It’s too fine and although I have a fine reticle Leopold vx6 I can see it ok it doesn’t have gaps and cross ticks and a tiny dot by itself in the middle. I thought FTP would be cool it’s a thing but so far not a fan I think I’m going to sell it. Also the eye box is more finicky and difficult than my vx 6 or my vxlll 6to 24 x 50 30mm scope which I think was about the same price. I like the turrets on the slll better though

Op, are you talking about the s-tac in 4-20x50? I have one in the mail due here any day. Can't wait, first sightron. It's in moa, with their version of a mil dot/ bdc reticle. I hate the xmas tree type; too cluttered for me.
