I'd like some input from those who have used both the Sightron 8-32x56 and 10-50x60 out to about 1000yrds and that do competition, which do you prefer and why?
Right now I'm leaning toward the 8-32 because of its 70moa adjustment instead of 50moa, and slightly bigger exil pupil.
Also if you have used the NF benchrest models I'd also like some input as to how it really compares and if the extra cost is worth it, I read its a much heavier scope and certainly tough, but spec wise I seem to like the sightron a bit better and seems to offer great value but haven't looked through either yet.

Also, what is the preferred reticle for benchrest and F class, fine cross hair, target dot, or other/don't matter?

thanks for your input.

I have a 10-50x60 and it's awesome. Optical quality is very good. The image is quite sharp and bullet hulls are easily visible at 300y on paper. I don't compete so I cannot comment on that factor. I will say that at 50x, mirage becomes easily visible even in mild conditions. As for the 50moa adjustment, just get a 20 moa rail or base.

The best thing about Sightron is there 10moa adjustments on there turrets sure beats NF, but for me a NF benchrest is better optics
for f class go with the 10 to 50

I compete with the 10-50 in F class.

With the NF BR, the ao is on the front of the scope making adjustments a royal PITA. AND you will be wanting to use the AO to view the mirage. Here the Sightron side focus is as good as any other scope in the LR comp game.

You will always shim your scope to max adjustment range. There isn't a combo you will compete with that can't make it to 1000yds with 50mins of elevation. Most will need less then 40mins.

Define your sport, the rules and your likes.

You mention the 8-32x56 has a larger exit pupil; at the same magnifications the 60mm objective will always have the larger exit pupil. If you want to keep your exit pupil large then do not turn the power up all the way.

I have used both Sightrons and numerous Nightforces of various sizes. I consider the Sightron to be the equal of Nightforce optics. I prefer the 8 x 32 to the 10 x 50. I have owned about four 10 x 50's and sold them all. They are good scopes but I just didn't like them. If I was going back to Sightron again I would buy the 8 x 32.

True the 60mm has a large exit pupil when at the same magnification. I had the chance to try the 10x50 a couple weeks ago thanks to Peter(hirsch precision), it is a nice scope. Once I finally get the rifle I'll probably try both the 8x32 and 10x50 on it at a longer range to see which I have an easier time with. Going over 30x I had a hard time finding where to put my head/eye to get the proper view as it seems it has to be just right, but its probably just be that I'm still not very used to using scopes and that it was only 50m range.

I have the 8-32x56 on my Tikka Sporter and I really like it. After looking at the 60 on someones rifle it just looked to dang big ... I was concerned my Sporter would begin to think it is was actually a scope with a rifle attached
but as everyone told me - look through both and decide what works best for you. As they say YMMV
