Does anyone know if the lifetime warranty on Sightron III scopes is transferable to a second purchaser. Their website says lifetime warranty with no mention to orginal purchaser.
Thanks for your help.

I emailed Sightron last year with the same question, and they indicated 'yes', warranty is lifetime and transferable.

We advise that the purchaser obtain the sellor's original receipt. This is because Homeland Security now requires that Canadians sending product back to the States for warranty must state that the scope was exported legally. Nightforce brought this to our attention and now have to fill out HS form.

We are all now safe from terrorism.

Peter

Peter, If the scope was originally sold by yourself and then purchased used, would you, as the oficial distributor, still have records?

Edit: you don't have to answer that if you don't feel like it. I don't have a problem with my used Sightron. I'l very probably be buying a new one from you in the next couple of weeks and I can ask you the same question then. cheers!

Good question as I bought a scope new from Peter and I don't think I still have the receipt. I also have a SIII that I received in a trade and I don't think I have the receipt for it either.

If the concern is proof of purchase in Canada AND you do not have a receipt AND there is no record of the serial number at the import level, just go into any Canadian customs office (any airport, border crossing and maybe an office here and there).

Show them the product, record the serial number and description on the "green" form.

They will stamp that the item was presented in Canada thus all taxes have been paid.

That should work as proof of Canadian product for export/import without further taxes.

Peter, if you have contact with the Feds, see if that will be sufficient proof for future warranty shipments. It should be as it was fine when I fly into the US recently.

We keep records and will do what we can for any of Jerry's customers or those of other Sighron dealers even if they don't have a receipt.

We had the most beat-off scope replaced for B.C. guide that was purchased by him before ours or Jerry's time, but it was bought in Canada and not smuggled.

I am on the way to the Canadian International Sniper Sniper Concentration in 10 minutes and will be back on Wed. if more questions.

Regards,

Peter
