Sightron Rifle Scope

I have narrowed down my choice of rifle scope to Sightron but I now need help with selecting the right magnification range. My choices are 4-20, 6-24 or 8-32. The problem is that I shoot from 50ft indoors to 200 yards outside so I need something that will cover these ranges, with the possibility of shooting further in the future.

I want to be able to see bullet holes on paper at 200 yards.

No hunting involved. Rifle is a Tikka 223 Rem.

I would appreciate any comments or advice.
 
I agree that Sightron makes good stuff.

My target rifles use Leupold 6.5-20 or a Nightforce 15-55 scope. I seldom lower the magnification to less than the maximum.

You should get the most magnification that you can afford.
 
I have a Sightron S3 6-24x50 and it has very nice glass with great clarity. Not positive on the minimum focusing distance for it but if it meets your needs you really can't go wrong one of those in my opinion.
 
More magnification is always great but not many scopes focus great at 50’ in any magnification range...that’s only 15 meters.
Shop around keeping a close eye on minimum focus distance.
I have 6-24 and an 8-32; both are great ranges for target use.
 
Good information in these replies - thank you all for your input. I checked the Sightron web site and it seems that the 6x24 and the 8x32 both focus down to 40 yds. Realistically I could forgo the short distance by using the .223 from 50 yds and higher, and sticking with the .22 when shooting indoors. Better for my ears!
 
Gairlochian..... 36X for 20 yards?????? What scope?? I tried a friends 30X++ (?) this summer with a FINE reticle. I could barely make out the reticle and it took forever to find the target.
 
Scope is Sightron.We shoot DCRA winter postal match and several guys I know use 36x Sightron"s.
Target is a 10 bull and the 10 is a tiny dot.
It takes a VG rifle and scope combo to score 100"s consistantly.
 
I know you already made up your mind for Sightron, but I can suggest taking into consideration?
Falcon scopes made in Japan inspected in UK and from EU you can get these for fractions of Sightron. I just picked up one last week by recommendations from some BR and Target guru's @ airgunnations.
My scope is the X50 10-50x60 and I plan using it for target shooting only, 50-300 meters with a air rifle, I wanted that power to see my POI. I have the FX Impact MK2 PP with .25 and .30 cal 700 mm barrel.
 
I had two Falcon scopes. Both failed me during national level matches. Not only did they fail me, Falcon in the UK refused to help. Importer that the scopes came from had dropped the line, no help there. Any follow-up service you get will be no better than the dealer you bought it from. And that is if Falcon will support them. I thought that these were decent scopes. They worked well until they failed. Wouldn't touch another one with someone else's 10 foot pole. You mention Falcons costing a fraction of Sightrons. If one product is cheaper than another, there is a reason. Bought my Sightron from Hirsch Precision. Sightrons have a sound reputation, as does Hirsch. It is a Sightron 4-24x50 MOA. Good scope. I've never tried it at 50', but have shot it to 1000m. Really like it. Clear optics, reliable adjustments. Can't say offhand if .22 holes could be seen at 200. Have used it primarily on ranges with target pullers using indicators.

I understand your frustration, but like with everything in between a coffee maker to a BMW, for every 1000 units sold - there is always a chance something can go wrong and somebody will have bad experience.
I am completely with you, if fails on me hard to believe I would buy it again there are so many options where to spend a money these days....Sightron floats your boat I am trying something else.
 
I, along with a couple of other competitors, were recommending the Falcon 1 1/2-5 as price point leader for Service Rifle competition.
We all wound up having problems with the scopes. So it wasn't just bad luck that I had two scopes fail. In the 1 1/2-5, something broke internally, and I could not see through the scope. The 4.5-14 failed at SCC with the entire ocular assembly coming loose during the competition.
Any piece of equipment can have problems. When the Falcon failed during the walk back zeroing at NSCC, I did have a backup rifle with a Leupold 1 1/2-5 with target turrets. What was particularly irksome was the utter lack of any product support. If a Leupold were to fail, I know Korth will deal with it; similarly Hirsch and Vortex do not abandon their customers. Still, two scopes failing would suggest that the line is questionable.
I am sure that the current distributor is excellent. As I mentioned, the distributor back then had dropped the line. I was on my own, and Falcon UK was no help at all.
