I wish to state that the SIII line with the fine crosshair is the best varmint scope I have ever used and I have used more than a few. Amen!

A friend of mine just bought one, the 8-32x56. Going to try it out on my rifle before buying.

First impression, it isn't the heaviest (beefy) scope I've come across that's for sure, however, it seems reasonably well built. It does have noticeable purple fringing, though I'll reserve judgment until I've had a chance to use it on the range.

What do you guys think of the SII Big Sky? I received my 3.5-10x42 last saturday.

I just rec'd my SII big sky a few weeks ago and haven't mounted it yet. It's the 3-9x42 with plain old duplex reticle. Well made, fantastic glass. Wish I'd have gotten an HHR or a target dot reticle though...might be on the EE soon.

This has become my goto 1" scope line up.

I used to use and really like the ELite 4200 scopes. They were the best 1" products at their price point.

The SII Big Sky are about the same money and offer better glass and great mechanicals. The side focus versions share similar traits to their bigger SIII cousins so make superb scope for the money spent.

I have used the 6.5-20 on the Savage 223 tactical rifle for a couple of seasons and tracking/optics let me go out to 1400+yds. to see an 80gr hit that far out, you gotta have nice glass.

The 36X Big Sky I feel is the best fixed power target scope vs the other Sightrons/weavers. Costs more but you get more. I use if for F class on my trainer and it is working great.

For an entry level F class or BR scope, this is the one I strongly recommend.

Loving this family of product.

But I am now 'upgrading' to the SIII LR on many of my rifle and couldn't be happier.

I mounted the SIIBS on my Enfield no4 MK2 and went on a Kudu Hunt in the Eastern Cape. The terrain is very rough and the scope took a real beating. I shot a 180 pound Kudu cow at +-150 yds. The scope kept its zero 100% and the glass is bright as can be.
This scope easily compares with my Leopold VXIII in the 2 categories thats important for hunters. Holding zero and seeing better in all light conditions.
