For LR plinking, I prefer the SIII6-24 family of scopes. I have no issue seeing, aiming and engaging sub MOA targets to a mile at 24X.
Good glass lets you see far more then high mag/poor glass ever will.
Others much prefer the 8-32... A wonderful scope too and for those that love more mag.. why not?
I compete in F class with the SIII10-50. Nice.. but way to big and narrow field of view for plinking. Paper punching .. excellent.
If you are field shooting, field of view becomes very important. I want to see my own impacts so I can adjust for the next shot. High mag is great for aiming... not as much fun for seeing.
