Hello,

I am looking at 2 scopes, both are at the upper end of my budget (under $600) and I am having trouble deciding. I would like to get a little feedback from anyone who owns either. My choices are down to Sightron SII (not Big Sky) and Bushnell Elite in a 6-24 power range. Will be going on my varmint/target .223.

Please don't turn this into "you should really be spending way more than that on a scope" thread. My budget is what it is.

Your experiences with these 2 scopes would be most helpful.

Thanks.

No experience with those particular models but I do have experience with both Bushnell and Sightron optics in the higher end. Very hard to beat Sightron, the glass you get for the money is of very high quality.

I use a Bushnell 6-24x50mm Tactical Elite 6245? on a 10 FCP-K in .223. It's my coyote gun. I have never used a Sightron.

For my own comparison, I have used Unertl, Nightforce and US optics but someone else was paying for them. I have Burris, Leupold and Millett, etc. and the Bushnell is the best scope(glass/parallax adj., repeatability, etc) for the least dollar spent that I have seen . Their Richmond Hill, ON customer service is second to none if needed.

I have two Sightrons, but they are SIII, I have not looked at the SII. Have you looked at the Nikon 223 specific scope? I have one and like it a lot, it's well made, easy to use and very clear. It's in the same price range you are looking at.

I removed a Elite 4200 on a buddy's deer gun and installed a sightron SII can't remember the model but he says its 3 times the scope and can see things in low light that he couldn't have had a chance to see before.

7.62mm and I did a side by side between a sightron 1-7 and Bushnell elite 1-6.5....I couldn't see any substantial differences in glass quality. The sightron oddly enough at an yellowing effect on the edges of white paper targets...couldn't tell what caused it

I love the Bushnell Elite 4-16x 50mm scope I have on my Remington SPS Tactical .223 Rem ....Super bright scope, and looks nice mounted on a heavy barreled .223 bolt gun.

I paid $560.00 NIB for it.

I own both of them and really don't notice any difference in optical quality. Both are good scopes. Bushnell has a service centre in Canada, which is handy if you ever need it. Not sure about Sightron.
