Looking for a new scope for a tikka varmint 300 WM. I plan to use this setup for bigger game and for long range hunting and target, not competition. Simply for fun and to challenge myself. I don't want to give up short range field of view. Any opinions on Sightron for quality warranty etc I'm looking at their STac 2.5x17.5. Thx

If you dont mind the larger size, it works very well at low light and at lower mag. Like quality binos, it allows you to see detail in light, the naked eye can't see well in. I was very impressed with the samples I looked through.

At all mag, the resolution and clarity is typical SIII which is to say very good. No issue resolving grout lines on a chimney over 700yds away while at 17.5X.

At 2.5X, I can aim at a door knob across the room (approx 20ft). When looking outside well past sundown, I can resolve the branches on nearby trees and see pine cones where I can't see spit with the naked eye. Not saying that is legal hunting light, but that the scope is still functional anytime it is legal light.

Lit reticle which will aid in low light conditions. It has been very successful product in Europe and Australia where they will hunt at night

I will be putting this scope on my Service Rifle and PRS rig.
