The issue: my Taurus pt1911 in .45 ACP shoots about 3-4" low at 20 yards. Doesn't matter what my POA is. I have read this is common for the pistol. Whatever the case, I am looking to replace both sights from the current Novak fixed with something adjustable and preferably fiber-optic or night-sights.

What I need to know: are the Taurus sight-grooves of a proprietary size and shape or whether any other 1911-type sights will fit. If the latter, then I need to know what "out there" in the market in terms of brand and sight model will fit, and where I can procure it. Equally useful to me is if you overcame the same issue and what worked for you.

Please limit your contributions to answering the specifics of what I'm asking, I'm not interested in a larger discussion about the merits of one type of sight over another.

Thanks to all who reply.
