i have posted about having a parker hale 4\47 rear ap on my .303. but where it is made for 7.62 would it be possible to put a .308 ramp and fore sight on the front to bring up the height where i can sight in and start working on my shooting. thx in advanced .this is only a thought

Use your 4/47. Forget about what the yardage side of the scale reads. Use the MOA side of the scale. Once you have a zero for a desired range (say 100 yards) move the scale plate to something you can remember and work up from there. Knowing how to read a verier comes in handy. I can't remember if the 4/47 in 1/2 minute or 1/4 minutes click.
Iron sight target rifles now use aperture sights front and back. Look for a front sight I believe is called a "match maker" and you will be all set to shoot in the 1950-1960's.

Why not trade somebody for a 303 calibrated AJP or a Parker Hale 5c. You'd be a lot further ahead and don't have to screw with the front sight. Ron
