Siglite Night Sights not the best in the light

I recently purchased a new P226 that came factory equipped with the Siglite Night Sights. The sights perform as advertised and glow in the dark, however that doesn't do me a lot of good since all of my paper punching is done during the day.

When ambient light and light around the target are the same the sights are visible, however the problem arises when the target is located in a brighter area than the shooter, say for instance when targets are placed at an outdoor range and the the firing line is located under a covered area. In a situation such as this the front blade goes dark as do the rear and you are basically giving it your best guess as to where things line up.

Anyone have input on a possible work around?

Thanks

What you're describing (lighted target, dark firing point) is actually the best for accurate handgun shooting. Three dot sights are meant for speed not precision--what you need to do in your case is line the front sight up side-to-side in the middle of the gap of the rear sight with the top of the front sight level with the top of the rear sight...let me see if I can find a picture.

This is not my picture but give you an idea of what it should look like:

Don't focus on the target--focus on the front sight.

Thanks for the input folks.

I will keep at it with the 3 dot night sights for a while longer. I am sure with more range time aiming will become second nature.
