Thanks. The Sig is the new kid on the block.
I bought the Python, NIB in `65 for $100, and carried it for 20 years, until I was forced, kicking and screaming, to transition to autos. That's when the Sig entered the picture.
After 20 years of holster daily wear, it needed a re-blueing. Colt was in the middle of labor problems and my phone call to Colt resulted in a very negative response. A local `smith, who was also a friend, made an offer I couldn't refuse: He'd do the job and if I was not satisfied, there'd be no charge. The Python came back looking like a brand new gun.
I used to use the Python as a standard for accuracy when testing a newly obtained gun. About twoyears ago, I got a 6" Trooper Mark III that shoots a tighter group than the Python. I think it's the extra 2".
By the way, I still have the box and bill of sale for the Python. No,.....it is not for sale even if somebody offered me the opportunity to double my money,
