i have had my 226 and 228 for years. every so often i dont get slide lock. wrong grip hitting the slide catch, at least so i thought. i just got a 227 a few weeks ago.only once in the six mags would i get the slide to lock.

not always the same mag. i marked the mags and cycled the gun empty to get it to stick. very random on which would catch. if i applied slight upward pressure to the mag it would catch at least 90%. got a new slide catch. same result. i took apart one mag and stretched the spring to give more tension when empty. with that mag it now catches 95%. did a second mag, that one too. did the other four. now they are all about 95%.

i loked at the next part. that spring under the locking block. so much tension pressing down, and only to catch the follower. i straightened out the tip slightly. now it is at 100%. my arms are tired from cycling the gun.

Usually it's mags but you tracked it..

congrats had the same with my 1911 and the springs on some new mags just weren't strong enough..
