Besides the reticle and exposed turrets - is there much of a difference here?
I have heard the SIII are made in Japan (confirmed with sightron a week ago) - but have yet to hear back about the S-TAC being made in the Philippines.

Does anyone know for sure?
I suppose it doesn't matter too much in the end - I just can't see them making two almost identical scopes in two differen countries.

Also: anyone running either? Reviews?

Cheers.

STACs are assembled in the Phillipines. Very well done.. some cosmetic differences between the STAC and SIII.

Japan Sightrons have gold markings. STAC white. Personally, I prefer the white markings for the turrets and mag ring.... older eyes

The knurling on the turrets and mag ring are different... the STAC is NF'ish.

I am super impressed with the optical qualities of the STAC 2.5-17.5X56. Clear and very sharp resolution... definitely give up nothing to the Japanese SIII's

Price point is "lower" with the STAC line up for the extra bells and whistles you get.

Nice stuff.
