Single shots are legal in both hunter and standard rifle. However, if the rifle is originally a mag fed rifle it must feed from the magazine and conform to the requirements if used in hunter class. Standard allows single shot or mag regardless of original action. Most competitors now are using one rifle in both classes. The mag feed is of no detriment and allows a faster reload to optimize on the time allowance. There are also many very accurate mag fed hunter class rifles. Check Steelchickens.com !
