Finally found a recipe for silver bullets! Might be something to try for when camping, those werewolf movies where they get the campers really freak me out. (like Dog Soldiers)

Several years ago, I set out to make some silver bullets. Everything i read said it was no go.
I had some .999 fine silver ingots and a pot that would only go to 1100 degrees. (at that temp lead is really giving off fumes, be careful, it is about to boil) . I floated one of the ingots on the lead. After a few minutes, it started to melt, so i put the rest of the silver in the pot. It took a while, but it eventually alloyed with the lead. I don;t have pure silver bullets, but i ended up with a 6% silver alloy. IT CASTS AT ABOUT 800-850 DEGREES.
They shine up really nice. I don't know what the hardness is, but it is pretty dang hard. It also stands up to a hammer test very well, deforming, but not fracturing.

PS Cost is not the object, the journey to the outcome is.... You want silver bullets, go ahead and make silver bullets. BE CAREFUL THAT ALLOY IS VERY HOT.

Yea, I'd read a bit too much about it, and always been disappointed. Some people mentioned an old test pf silver bullets ala Lone Ranger, but they were extremely hot to pour, and too hard and accuracy was bad. Some speculated the accuracy was bad because the bullets would be undersize, cooling like that. Even got an article on it http://www.popsci.com/popsci/how20/9d2a9aa138b84010vgnvcm1000004eecbccdrcrd.html

I also received this method, I almost felt sad when I reminded him that werewolves turn back into people so his last step would be kind of funny;

Well, up here in the North, we got lots o' big ol' trophy W-Wolves, so me 'an brother AutoLite have developed the ULTIMATE load for them nasties!

Now before I let you know how we do it, I gotta tell you that it only works for .303 British rifles, which is OK, 'cause there are still tons of them around up here...More on that later...

So here is what you do....
1. Get yourself a box of 100 165 gr .308 polymer tipped bullets (no brand name dropping...You can figure it out)

2. Put said box of bullets in a metal fine mesh strainer.

3. Dig out your trusty Outers electro bore cleaning kit...(see where this is going?)

4. Immerse your strainer in the solution so that the bullets are completely covered.

5. Hook up the anode wire to a silver quarter or half dollar (the more the better and faster) and place it carefully on the bottom of the solution container, then hook up the other lead to your strainer.

6. Turn on your Electro bore cleaner and allow the wonders of electroplating to begin. And because you used copper jacketed bullets, the process is super high quality.

7. Every few minutes, use a wooden popsicle stick to stir up your little silver beauties...

8. After a couple of hours, your bullets will be plated to the required .0015" thickness, to bring them up to .311" diameter, at which point they can be loaded in your .303 brass.

9. Place really shiny strainer in plain sight so your wife can compliment you on how nice it looks, since you took all that time and effort to silver plate it for her...

Diretions for use:
1. Find Werewolfe...
2. Load Gun (NV Scoped, of course)...
3. Aim for the vitals...
4. Pull trigger...
5. DO NOT scream out "I got him with a silver plated bullet"
6. If you failed to pay close attention to step 5, then put another round into him just to be sure.
7. Call National Enquirer, CNN, CBS, NBC, American Rifleman, Guns & Ammo, Reloaders Digest etc; to inform them that you have the best story og the Millenium...
8. Accept highest bid for story.
9. Retire comfortably in the area of your choice and sip yoour favorite beverage while revelling in your inginuity.[/quote]

There's also a guy saying silver doesn't kill werewolves, but he might have alterior motives, if you know what I mean:)

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. All the Werewolves I've shot have gone down easily with plain old copper-jacketed, lead bullets.

My favourite caliber is the .30-06, and for areas where I might run into a big bear I'd prefer to be pushing a Speer Hot-Cor 220 gr. bullet. Federal makes really accurate ammo with clean burning powder (although I hear the brass isn't the best for reloading.)

Otherwise, a Speer 180 gr. Mag-tip bullet ought to handle your average Werewolf (not to mention: deer, moose, and elk.)

Or if you are packing an old Lee Enfield it is hard to beat a 180 gr. Speer Hot-Cor.

Pick anyone of them (or something similar) and you really can't go wrong. Just aim carefully and drop the motherf**ker in it's tracks...

Just don't let them sneak up behind you...
