Silver Nitride Finish

Just bought an Ithaca Model 700 O/U 12 ga. which has what I would call a Silver Nitride finished received. It was listed as having a "Coin finished" receiver, which I assume is the same as the silver nitride, but I could easily be convinced otherwise.
My question is this: Having never owned a gun with this finish, how should one look after it? I presume a light gun oil coating the same as I would do to the blued barrels, but I want to be sure.

Thanks in advance!

That should be enough to take care of that. Assuming that you store in a non-humid environment.

Personally, I hardly use gun oil on the exterior......just use Birchwood Casey's Gun & Reel Silicon cloth and completely wipe my firerams after a cleaning session or whenever I get those out of the safe for fondling :). This product serves very well for both wood, metal and leaves a very light oil like coat all over.

Nickel is virtually maintenance free. It is used because it is hard and durable. For example, my 870 Marine magnum is nickel finished. The gun is indestructable by any reasonable account.

I don't know much about silver nitride. Googling it, makes me wonder what the heck it is. I would call the company and ask for specifics of care and materials used for soemthing so vague.
