silver solder removal

what is the best way to remove solder from a barrell? A removal of a rib has left a line of solder on the barrell. A packing knife is working, just slow. Thanks AJ

I bought some solder remover from The Source (Radio Shack) that worked pretty good. It looks sort of like a hollow brass mesh wire. You heat the solder with this stuff against it and the solder leaves the part and sticks to the mesh. It just lifts off with the mesh.

The solder wick will still leave a thin film of the solder but if it's a soft solder it will sure do a nice job on the lumps. To remove the film you could try one of the lead removers. It should do a number on the solder just fine I would think.

Heat it until it's soft and wipe it off.
