Hi all, as the title says I'm a member of silverdale and just bought a Remington 1100 (12ga 28"barrel I think). I would like to start shooting clay but I'm not sure how it all works. Usually I go put a few rounds in paper and leave. How does it work for the clay sports? Do I bring my own targets (what size)? Do I buy them at the clubhouse (I usually go during the week are they open)? What ammo do I buy?

Tried to search, All the threads i found are well over a year old and no real info on the website.

Trap costs you $5.00 per round. You pay at the office when you sign in. All you need is your gun & ammo. Not sure if the Trap Ranges are open all week. I seem to remember something about Fri Sat & Sun, but I might be mistaken. Call Joan at the Office - she'll give you better details than that, I'm certain.

As above.

The traphouse will be loaded for you.

Trap is best with target loads, 7 1/2 or 8 shot, 1 oz. No need to blast your shoulders away with hunting loads.

At Silverdale if you are alone you use a foot pedal to activate the trap - at least as of last summer when I was there shooting trap - would be nice if they had voice activation like many other places. Best if you come with a buddy who will activate for you when you call, and give your shoulder a rest while he/she takes a few shots too.

If more than 1 person is shooting at the same time, you each pick a station to shoot from, alternate between each other and typically after 5 shots each you rotate one station over - unless you agree otherwise.

Have fun.

Went to Silverdale today shot a few rounds. Had a great time. Best I did was 19/25 (rotating stations). Not bad for my first outing, definitely wont be my last. Got some great tips from the RO which definitely helped. Cant wait to go back.

good stuff! I too shoot at silverdale. normally on sundays. I just got into it this year, and what a blast, im hooked. maybe ill run into you some day.

I was at Silverdale yesterday, and did one of the new shooter packages I got on Groupon. I asked Joan about shooting some trap, and she let me shoot a round for a few extra dollars. What a blast. I did not think I would even hit a bird, but did fairly well, I hit 5 of 6 at my first (center) station, then moved to the other. The RO was really helpful in helping me set up, and line up. All in all, I hit 16 of 25, made me want to buy a shotgun when my lic comes in.
