About a half a month ago I posted about finding a scope with a smaller eyepiece. I ended up getting a good deal on a Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 EFR, and it looks perfect on the CZ 452. With Talley low vertical rings, there is juuuuust enough clearance for the objective (as in 1mm-ish), which I'm happy with. My core rationale behind the smaller eyepiece was so that I had more bolt clearance, and now it is perfect for me. I'm thoroughly happy with it.

However, now I am searching for a scope for my CZ 457, which is my bush/truck gun. I currently have a Bushnell Legend on it, which works, but I see the distinct advantage of having an adjustable objective for parallax now. My shots can be under 10 yards while hunting grouse to around 100 while shooting gophers, so an AO scope would be handy.

I suppose my question is this: are there other, less expensive options similar to the VX-II/Freedom offering? I know that Weaver made one (Classic RV9), and Clearidge did too (Ultra RM), but both of those are no longer available, and I haven't seen any used ones around. I think Mueller makes a 2-7x32 AO scope, but I've heard mixed reports regarding the eye relief and some quality control issues, so perhaps some here can address that more accurately. I don't want anything larger than a 3-9x32 or so, which obviously is limiting my choices.

I sold my efr and bought a weaver 3x9 with a.o. I find the weaver is clearer and easier to adjust. The efr is a bit shorter and lighter. Been looking for another weaver but they are scarce! I tried a lot of Leupolds but for me the adjustment for the reticle is to fine. I could never get bright, clear crosshairs. Prefer quick focus ones.

I do know my Dad has a weaver classic that he bought that was mounted on a 452, it has AO, think it's a 2-9x32? First time I looked through it was surprized at the clarity of the glass.

I just bought a 3-9x40 bushnell trophy XLT with SF.
