Wondering which one is better? It's for a remington 597 .22 if that helps.Im looking at the 3-9x simmons and the tasco is the same.

Simmons: http://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&&section=1195&section2=1376&ID=24337

Tasco: http://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&&section=1195&section2=1375&ID=9178

Also just for giggles has anyone used one of these? They go for $20 at canadian tire: http://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&&section=1195&section2=1375&ID=5566

I haven't handled the Tasco, but I put a Simmons 22 mag on my dad's Cooey 60 for Christmas, and he's very happy. I've shot it a fair bit, and I was quite impressed with the scope for the price.

Not sure if it is to late or not, but i have a bushnell 3-9 on my savage 22, but when i got my new 10/22 i can't seem to find any of the bushnells any more, so i got the simmons 3-9. Compared to the bushnell (which was the same price as the simmons) the simmons just feels kinda junky, it does the job so far(only had for a few months), but doesn't have the same smooth adjustment, crappy lens covers, etc. I haven't handled a tasco, but i don't have the best warm fuzzy feelings about the simmons.
I haven't had any serious lemons from tasco yet, so i think if i were to do it again i would go tasco myself, or if you can find one of the rimfire bushnells left over grab it

I put a simmons .22 mag 3x9 on my ruger 10/22. After some basic sighting the bottom of the cross hair broke. I looked it up on google and it will cost more to get looked at/fixed then the scope is worth. It also seems to be a common problem, be careful... if you get a bad one you'll wish you didn't.

I've got the simmons fixed 4x32 on my model 93 savage. It's alright, but I should have got the 3-9x scope. At 100 yards I can see the target but not my hits. It seems to hold zero (set prior to putting about 75 rounds out). So for the money I guess they are okay. Certainly not precision instruments by any stretch.

If you are looking for the cheapest out there I would suggest looking at Vortex as they will at least give you a lifetime transferable warranty. Id personally shoot open sights before using Tasco or Simmons, they are horrible.
Alot of people shoot their rimfires more then any other rifle but often have the cheapest glass on them?? Havent figured that out yet.

Cheers!!

If you're looking for something inexpensive check out a Leapers or Hawke from D&L airgun. Better scope with more options for the money.

I made the mistake of buying a Simmons White-tail 2.5 -8 for my muzzle loader about 15 years ago. Since then I had it exchanged through the dealer 3 times for issues such as bouncing cross hairs and not holding 0. The last one would change point of impact when adjusting the power. Unfortunately the dealer didn't handle them anymore so I dealt with the then manufacturer in California. They were really good to deal with, and as that model was no longer in production, they let me upgrade to the Aetec 2.8-10 X 44. This scope then sat on a shelf for a few years, until recently after my good old Bosch & Lomb packed it in. It is now mounted on my Ruger M77 7mm Rem Mag. Not the greatest optics in the world, but OK.
I bought a Savage Model 10 Predator in .243 and guess what came on top of it? Another Simmons!! It is a ProSport 4-12 X 40. After about a year the rubber ring on the power ring spins around without adjusting anything. So off it went! Bushnell had bought out Simmons about 5 years ago, so at least I only had to send it to Ontario. No word back yet as to its demise.
If you are getting the impression that my confidence in Simmons is getting a little weak, you are right!!!:bangHead:
