Has anyone used one of these? Looking online it seems some people are asking about them and the general response is "I wouldn't buy it, its from Simmons?"

I like the 30 mm tube and side focus. I'm nervous about quality reading some of the comments on Simmons!

Les Johnson uses one and swears by it :D
I suspect the scopes are like it's sister company scopes (Tasco),
in that many people own them but don't admit to it and they work well
on small caliber guns including centre fires.
Lower end Bushnells are in there as well.
A Bushnell in your price range might be a better way to go if you dont want to take the chance.
But i have heard bad stories with bushnell not honoring warranties lately as well.
They are not high end by any means but have a place in the market.
Not everyone can aford one or more $500. scopes.
Try googling them to see if you find a feed back site for them.

I have the 4.5-18x model and i love it. Have it mounted on a Savage 17hmr. Clear and crisp glass with good focus. The adjustment knobs are not the greatest but you get what you pay for. It holds zero perfectly on the 17hmr but i don't know how well it would perform with a centerfire.

I have a Simmons 6x on my .22lr BLR-22. It is clear small and light, great scope for that application. I also put a Vortex Crossfire 3-10x50 on my other .22lr, it is another great 22 scope, or varmint cal. scope.

I have a fixed 4 power Simmons I bought about ten years ago for $24 on my 300 wm. it holds it's point of aim and is nice and clear. Probably worth about 8 bucks now, but not for sale.

I have a simmons 4-18X40 on my .17hmr. I dont know what model, it came on another gun I immediately sold. But, on my HMR it works great. Holds zero and is more than clear enough for the 100-200 yards I shoot. Mine has a 1 inch tube so its not the same model as the predator quest but honestly, its been a good scope. It pales in comparison to my Minox Z5... but it would also cost about 1/4 the price.
