You'd be better off going with a Redfield scope in a similar price range. I think Sail also carries that line, as its owned by Leupold.

Or Burris - like Jacob.22 mentioned. They're making some good stuff. All depends on what you're using it for. Don't discount Bushnell either. There are a lot of comparable scopes with better glass at a similar range.

Simmons has had decent models in the past but with recent acquisitions by parent companies (Bushnell then ATK) they have been relegated to mostly entry level models. Warranty is handled through Bushnell but other wise very average for their price range. Phil.

I'd go for a Bushnell Banner series if your on a budget, you can find them for $99.00 to $129.00 most times. And Ive seen them on sale for $69.00 last season.

Would 4.5- 18 X be overkill for a 22 LR?
There is a 30$ mail in rebate as well tho

I have a Simmons 6-18 Simmons on my 10/22 that I bought on sale for $69. At that price, figured - why not? That gun is just a bench plinker anyways and the scope lets me shoot out the middle of a pop tab at 25 yards. Adjustments work fine, focus is nice, it isn't the most clear glass but for a sub 100yd 10/22 it does the job well. My kids love being able to zoom/focus. I've dropped the gun, the scope holds zero and so far has been a bargain for the minimal use it sees. I don't know if I would buy a Simmons for a carry scope, for that purpose I have been drinking the Nikon Kool Aid.

This is one of the brand i do not use anymore. There's so much better out there for not a ton a cash more. I have no time to waist with Simmons, Center Point, Tasco, BSA, Mueller and others.

No. Terrible scope

Dugasgunner just made a great list of scopes to avoid. I would like to add bushnell to it tho.

Bushnell sells $50 Chinese scopes, all the way up to $2500+ Japanese made scopes....
The Japanese Elites start at $250 and are a great buy.
Where a scope is made defines it's quality more then the name that is stamped on it.
