Would like to get a small safe to stash someplace more handy than where all the other guns are in my home. I already know not to use it in self defence unless backed against a wall so to speak. I see Fort Knox has some, and V-line. Does anybody have one of these? Guess it needs to be a vault of safe to make our regulations.

Fort Knox all the way.

Excellent quality and the lock they use is bullet proof!

I always recommend it to anyone asking about smaller pistol safes (so yes you can leave your unloaded and not trigger lock pistol in them).

I just ran across a blurb about a rare earth magnet defeating some simplex locks. Don't know if that is older models or different manufactures. Was shipping expensive?

I've personally never seen / read about that (not saying it isn't true), but it would be the least of my concern regarding the simplex lock. If say you keep your FN safe in a side table drawer, it's not going to be bolted to a wall stud so however wants what's in it will simply take the whole box. So IMO, theft of the whole box is a bigger issue on a 10 to 0.001 ratio ;)

Shipping wasn't too bad. Can't recall exactly. Call / email them and get a quote.

You can also take a look at Shotlock, they have pistol locks as well. Not sure where to get them in Canada though, I picked one up for the shotgun on a trip to the states.

Simplex locks are a conveniece lock and can be opened by trying different combos in 10-20min or less "not high security"

But more then good enough to keep it legal

I would more than likely bolt it to the bed or something. My biggest concern is not theft(as long as it's stored legally), I do not want my kids or anybody else's to get into it. Does anybody make a pistol sized safe with a dial lock?

If you can sqeeze in 1,084 possible combinations in 10-20 mins, you sir have some world-class finger speed LOL!

"Half-pushes" doubles the number of combination possible.

"Double-numbers", i.e. pushing 1-5 at the same time...well you can do the math.

For a quick access vault, it's a good system. Way better than cheap, chineese mass produced electronic lock that will fail on you.

My humble 2cents worth, of course.

Well most combos are 3 number and include a double number. Half numbers are almost never used and most people dont even know about that option ;) best is when people dont reset the factory combo 24-3 lol

Kaba simplex is a good lock but its not high security

But if serious thief is not an issue i would use it in a heart beat
