Has anyone bought one of the new Ruger single 10's yet? I read they have new gun fighter style grips that are slightly more slim and also have fiber optic sights, they don't come with the 22 mag cylinder either. Is it worth it or is the old single 6 still the way to go? I think price wise they are nearly the same.

To the best of my knowledge the Single Ten is not available in Canada yet, but I could be wrong.

They are pictured and advertised with FO sights, and there seems to only be one model right now. The FO sights can be installed on any Single Six, FYI.

They are .22 only, no .22 WMR.

Seems to be only one barrel length, the popular 5 1/2".

As for which one is right for you, you'll have to decide what's important. Do you want to shoot .22 WMR? Do you desire a different barrel length? Prefer blued?

Personally, I have no desire for a 10 shot-6 shooter. (Did that make sense? Okay, didn't think so!) ;)

EDIT:

Browsing Rugers website, I stumbled upon a Lipey's distributor exclusive model Single Ten, 4.63" barrel, available in stainless or blued. Kind of a handsome piece, but still that awkward 10 shooter thing.

Takes a little longer to load but you get to shoot for longer too. I'd say that it's really a wash in the end. But if you always found that "only 6" was just getting you warmed up when the "click" came on the 7th round then a Single 10 sounds like the gun for you.

I have a Single ten and I really like it. It works great and I like the ten shots rather then six but others may be different.

I think for most people in Canada the 22 magnum is a real waste of time. If we could take them hunting it would be different but we can't so that takes care of that. I see all kinds of single six's for sale that say the mag cylinder has never been used so I guess other people feel the same as me.

I see them starting to show up at dealers now as well. For me I like the fiber optic sights as they are front and back sight and not just the front one.

I've used the magnum cylinder with my Single Six, but you are right about it not being practical. Handguns in general aren't very practical for Canadians, but we still love them.

My old single six only ever sees the mag cylinder. I don't see it as a waste of time. If I did, I guess I could look at all of my hand guns as a waste of time ;)

I would go for a single-ten in term of accuracy. Bore of the single-six is .224" to accept the .22 mag. bullet, but the .22 lr bullet is only .220". The .22 mag isn't cheap too and I don't see the real advantage for a .22lr.

Frontier have single-ten in stock. I bought one recently! ;-)

Just my 02 cents.
