Single Chamber Muzzle Brake?

I am in the process of putting together a hybrid hunting/LR rifle and am looking at what's available in single chamber muzzle brakes. I'd like to keep it with 1 port on either side as to keep the overall length down and need it with a 5/8x24 tpi. If I can't find something, I may just get one with multiple side ports and machine it down on the lathe to have it as a single port design. Any thoughts?

Maybe there is a reason there aren't many brakes as you describe... I think they are inefficient and do not function as well as many others.

I can’t help you with the single port but benchmark barrels makes a very nice double port. I have one of theirs on a 300prc that works great and doesn’t add much length to my 24” barrel.

Look at the APA CHODE brake. They found that almost all recoil was mitigated in the first gill. I've used them before, and they're not quite as soft shooting as the Lil bastard but pretty darn close.

Not a single port but I run an aluminium Insite Heathen 3-port on my hybrid long range hunter/occasional ELR rifle. Weighs next to nothing and is very effective.

V7 Micro Brake
- I have this on a 223 and it's great, lightweight and low profile. 1.325" long


Squat Brake at Colonel Mustard
- I have this on a 6mm and it's a nice compromise between length and ports. Definitely heavier than the V7. 1.73" long


Griffin Armament Paladin 2 port.
- I do not own this but it's another short brake but 2 port. 1.59" long.
