As I build my 2 custom 870s, I’ve hit that point where I’m deciding what to do for a sling mount? I’d like to find a spacer that goes between the receiver and butt stock and just have a single point of attachment. Magpul has a nice one but only designed for their butt stock. What are my options? One gun will have a 18.5” barrel with Hogue stocks and the other is going to be 14” with some vintage wood furniture. Thanks for your help!

Go with a 2 points setup: spacer between the butt and the receiver and one at the front.

If you absolutely want a 1 point sling setup, I'd go with the spacer

S&J for sure. The loops on the spacer are big enough you can hook an HK clip to it or just loop a regular sling in.

Like DT said though, build for a 2-point, just to be adaptable. You can always get a sling that is configurable for 1 or 2-point carry.

Thanks Lerch, that’s just what I wanted to hear. My concern was the S&J wasn’t big enough for a clip. I’d like to run a straight sling with a clip on either end. This way I can use it as a single point or dual.

The S&J sling mount is pretty much the same as the Magwedge one, and the attachment loop is plenty big for a para clip etc. I have the magwedge version on an 870 clone. The S&J fabarm one is just big enough for a para clip and if you look at the two on the website you’ll see the difference in loop size.

As said, with the right sling set up you can quickly switch between a 1 & 2 setup. They not have their pros and cons.

Dlask makes a single point sling plate, and it has a generous hole for clips. I have one on my Remington 870 (pictured below). https://dlaskarms.com/collections/shotgun-parts/products/rem-870-sling-adaptor-plate

I prefer two point slings but with a short one like mine, I found the front sling attachment point was too close to the foregrip and interfered with it, so I went with a single.
