Don't have a Baikal rifle, but I've had a single Baikal 12ga for about 20 years and it is as tough as nails.

Fine tuned? nope but it has done as many miles as my quad has and is still the first shotgun I reach for when I need ol' reliable.:D

I just bought a double o/u Baikal 12 ga and I'm expecting the same performance as the single.

Baikals won't break the bank by any means but they still shoot straight;)

The barrels on these single shot rifles look like they are twisted from the outside.

THESE ARE EXTREMELY ACCURATE BARRELS.

Baikal was planning to put these barrels on an expensive rifle they were designing. That project was cancelled.

These barrels ended up on the inexpensive single shot rifles...:)

I picked one up from a member on this board last year in 30/06. Took it out to the range with factory ammo and was surprised as heck that it shot so well.
My father-in-law had a heart attack a couple of years ago and asked me last fall if I could find him a light rifle as his 99 is too heavy for him (He still "humps" the woods looking for moose). I gave him the Baikal and he couldn't be happier. It's light and shoots accurately. I'd buy another one, no question.
