I am refurbishing an old single shot cooey, more from nostalgia than anything else-I used to go down to Maple Creek as a kid and shoot gophers, spent many a happy day doing that. What I would like to know is-what sort of accuracy can be reasonably expected up to 25 yards?

Minute of gopher accuracy. I have owned several Cooey's in my time and have to say they have all shot as good as or better than anything else out there on the market considering what you pay for them. I grew up shooting rabbits and squirrels with an old single shot Model 39, and it never let me down....

My model 75 has been known to put 5 shots inside a dime at 25 yds. Most times its 4 in a dime and one flyer but that is my fault, not the rifle. I am torn between putting a good peep sight on it or leaving original. It was my Dad's gun when he was a boy. It still gets out to the range 4-6 times a year.

Get yourself a Bushnell 3-9x32 'rimfire'...they come with rings for rimfire recivers, and see through lens caps. Average price accross Canada is $40.00. :) Then You can play at 100M all day...maybe even 200M. :)

Bushnell, same company as Tasco I believe?

Maybe try stores like Walmart and Canadian Tire.

I drilled and tapped my old 75. It usually wears some various old steel tubed 3/4" Weaver rimfire from my collection. I can get 5 shots into a 1/2" @ 25 yds, but I have to work at it.

The only drawback to the 75 is the god-awful heavy trigger. Who's worked their Cooey single shot trigger to where the pull weight is reasonable, and still safe?
