Single shot follower for Savage VLP

Hi,

Sharp Shooter Supply make a fake mag that is called a Fred Sled, wich is a single shot follower that replace the standard mag of the VLP.

Thing is, SSS wont sell to particulars in Canada. I was put in contact with Sussex Outfitter wich is suppose to import them. But after a brief chat on the phone and emails, nothing...

Anybody knows where I could get somthing like that ?
 
I cut a piece of foam out of a pelican case (that slightly pre-cut 1cm square stuff) that was just slightly oversized. It sits fine in the mag well and feeds reliably. Just an interim solution of course but something to get you going.

Talk to Jerry at Mystic Preciison. He sells the Score High single shot followers. I bought one for my VLP, and I love it.
 
I too wanted one of those peices badly, but sad to hear that they do no longer ship to canada. I did another solution that took forever with a chisel and a peice of Red Oak. I simply made a "Fred Sled" out of wood, rather than the fancy plastic and aluminum. I cut notches in it for it to click into the magwell and everything. It took a long time but it works just as well and it was "free" if you dont include my time. My basic approach was to copy the magazine. Ill take some pictures later and post it up here.
 
All you do is remove the action from the stock, remove the original follower and spring. Drop in the Score High SS follower, then put the original one back in. The spring keeps it pushed up tight against the action. Put the action back in the stock and your done.
