Guy I know is looking to convert his collection of hunting firearms to single shot only. He has got his bird gun, his goose gun and I think he is about to get his centre fire rifle.

He is looking at what is available in single shot slug guns. He is not likely to spend a ton of money on the gun, but he does appreciate quality.

I couldn't help him out on this one. Anyone know what is available out there and what is good and what is not?

Thanks in advance.

Newbie comment here, if your friend is looking at a single shot slug shotgun, why wouldn't he consider a single shot big bore rifle like a Ruger No.1 or something? More accuracy/knock down, no?

The flattest shooting most accurate single shot sluggun made today is the 28" rifled barrel offered for the Thompson Center Encores and Pro-Hunters!
It will outshoot any Factory Sluggun at long range....

In some parts of southern Ontario rifles are not allowed for deer hunting, bows, muzzleloaders and shotguns only. That's likely the reason behind looking for a slug gun instead of a bigbore rifle.

Thanks guys.

Sounds like the NEF gun would do the trick.

I've been to thier website but can't find anything about Canadian Dealers.

Anyone know about who handles the line in Ontario?

Epps carries 'em and has a 12-gauge Ultra Slug in stock according to their website. Mine shoots so well that I was seriously thinking of getting another.

The Tracker II that someone mentioned is also a nice shooter, but keep in mind that if you are planning to use a scope, the Tracker II is not D&Ted and most competent gunsmiths won't do so because of strength issues (barrel wall too thin). The Ultra Slug comes with a scope base.
