HI all,

I have a H&R Ultra Hunter in .270win. Occasionally, with reloads (no problems with commercial ammo), a case will stuck in the chamber without been ejected. It can be very frustrating, especially while hunting. Some guys carry a short cleaning rod to extract the case but I have found this link and made the alteration myself with a hand file.

Here is the link where I found that, it works very very well and take 2 sec to extract a stuck case :). Thought it would be usefull for single shot owners. This guy used a dremel but I found it was easier to go slow and do with a hand file. Look at the bottom of the page to see the alteration.

Being the owner of a few NEF rifles I say thanks for that link.
Yes, cases stick in Handi Rifles. I sat here thinking how to do the notch then realized the vertical mill in the shop with a 1/8" end mill will do most of the notch work for me. A simple fix and easier than always carying the cleaning rod.

Great! Thanks for that. I have an H&R Tamer .410 that refuses to eject anything other than Winchester ammo (slugs or shot). I greased the hell out of it and now it works quite well.

For a while there, I was using my truck antenna as a custom ejector.
 
I have problems with My NEF also, .204 ruger and stuck cases, my extractor is not working at all. Where can I get new parts in Canada?

I was full sizing the brass, trim etc. Haven't try just neck sizing but will do on the next batch. You say "Pay close attention to case lenght when neck sizing" I always verify that all cases are same lenght, is it more problematic if you only neck size?

By the way guys, don't forget to do a protection sleeve for your chamber when you perform this alteration (fired brass from your rifle) because it is easy to hit the inside chamber without it and it also protect from debris falling in the chamber/barrel.. it is well explained in the link, go slow and it should be fine..

Once the brass is fireformed to your chamber, it won't flow as much, but just make sure that the cases haven't stretched beyond the recommended overall length.
I'm not suggesting that this will cure your problem, but more of a "give it a try". Sometimes resized cases are more problematic in certain chambers.
