I have a Cadex Sheepdog barreled action I've been wanting to use in a hunting setup for some time now. A few weeks back I jumped on an amazing deal for a Manners stock that was inletted for a R700 BDL bottom metal. Today I found out the Sheepdog won't feed from a R700 BDL and it looks to be because the BDL is a double stack and the Sheepdog can only pick up a round properly if it's centered/single stack. I should have looked into that before I bought the stock but here we are.

I'm hoping I'm not the only person that's ran into this issue trying to get an odd custom action to feed from a BDL. I've done some googling to see if a single stack follower or other set up exists and haven't had any luck. I'm awaiting responses from Cadex and Wyatts but thought I'd see if anyone on here had any insight as well.

Selling it for a loss or having it re-inlet for M5 bottom metal are both options that I'm trying to avoid right now.

You could convert to a detachable mag made by Kwik Klip. It is a single stack and feeds really nice and is great for hunting. Installed many of them over the years. It basically replaces the BDL bottom metal with a little inletting required.

I converted my R700 LA to single stack using the Magpul hunter kit. It took some fitting for my Wildcat stock but it feeds very well and the magazine has a positive insertion and removal.

If long action I would prefer M5 over other options. M5 is properly designed with screw holes going in the correct angle, proper machine screws can be used and the bottom metal contact to the stock is parallel to the action. One can choose between 3.715" or CIP 3.850" mag lengths. The 3.850 also has the advantage of the MDT 3 Shot Polymer magazines that are very lightweight and don't stick out much. These are available for 280/300wm sizes. Two magazines that fit in the CIP 3.850" mag systems.
