For PRS use, although initially on a rimfire rifle. I dont know where to find a breakdown of the optics that have this feature and where the price starts. 2 turns wouldn’t be the end of the world as long as it’s easy to see which turn you are on. I hoping those who have tried many can help here. I don’t want to spend on several steps when I can learn from your experience. My production class Diamondback Tactical doesn’t show which turn of 5 it is on, which has lead me astray. Thanks.

Is that a thing? Top of their respective lines, Vortex and Athlon, don't do that (they are 10 mil per rev).
I’ve heard it talked about, but maybe only on some with limited adjustments? My guess is it’s a pay to play thing. Some of the optic connesours(sp) will chime in I hope.

I don't know of any, to be honest. Most high end scopes (that you would use in PRS) are 10 mil/rev (some 10.5, some 11). Most have some kind of 2nd (or 3rd) rev indicator. They all have a zero stop and you should be returning your scope to zero after every stage (to avoid being a rev off after a long range stage, which happens to many). Shooting the calibers common to centre fire PRS you'll rarely go past your 1st rev (on a 10mil/turn turret) and I wouldn't expect to get "lost" in your turret during a stage (but 5mil/turn turrets suck for that). I could maybe see in rimfire PRS where 10 mils is only maybe 250 yards (from a 100 yard zero).

US Optics is the only scope I know of that has/had a 1 rev elevation turret. Was a big saucer type thing and worked well BUT for rimfire PRS, you have to accept multiple revolutions cause when you need more then 20mils to hit the target, you are spinning the turrets

With centerfire and many new scopes, you can shoot the entire match using reticle alone.

Good replies folks. I found some S&B, and a Nightforce that does, or did single turns. Most of the top end stuff seems to use 2 turns. Turrets with heavier clicks at the full mil points (MTC) are something I wasn’t aware of. Considering very low light isn’t a thing in most matches, single turn and MTC turrets aren’t on my wish list at this point. I will try to buy used to step up the ladder a big when the time comes.

It’s easy to get lost on my Vortex DT zeroed at 50, and was even more so before I got a pair of used XTR rings. Definitely my least liked “ feature” on that one.

Oh for sure, I could see that, you'd be on your 2nd turn (if not 3rd?) to get to 200 yards. 5 mil turrets really just kinda suck, imo, although I get that it's just a cost cutting thing so yo end up saving some cash on the scope.

I wouldn’t shoot the DBTactical on an open gun any longer than absolutely necessary. $$$ on the rifle vs $$$ on the optic, not sure which way I will go. Might depend on what comes up on EE.

I dunno what your current rifle is but if this is mostly (or firstly) gonna be for .22 PRS stuff, unless your current rifle is really un-satisfactory, I'd put the money into an optic. 5 mil turrets are annoying for centre fire but I could see them being a real pain in the ass for .22.

It's hard to know how many people use each combination of turret travel per revolution & travel per click. I know what I use, 10mil/rev and 0.1mil/click. For a data point for what the wider market, especially the well-heeled and highly-invested, use, you could look at a survey like this and analyze what each of the scopes has for turret specs:

The Leupold CDS-ZL turrets are locking and indicate when they have gone past one full revolution. I don’t know much about long range or tracking; just saw a clip on them the other day.

Just run adjustable height scope rings on that Vortex DT

Set the height so you're just a few minutes off the bottom of travel so it creates what is in effect a zero stop scope.

If you get lost, just crank to the bottom and back up to zero.

It also maximizes travel for those 400 yard shots with a 22.

If full elevation is achieved in one revolution of the elevation knob, it is obvious that movement is dramatic. Can't see how elevations could be fine tuned.
Generally speaking, conventional knobs have Vernier scales, which facilitate precise, repeatable settings.
