So I just got this old cooey 75, and it shoots 8” to the right at 50 yards.
Seems consistent, and I know the sights do not have that much adjustment. I belive you have to push the front site to one side or the other, but that would push it half way out of the front site slot.

I have 2 other cooey 75, and they shoot fine, I haven’t ever had to adjust the site on them, and I don’t think the barrel is bent, at least as far as I can see.

So 2 questions; what should I do to diagnose this, and after that what should I do to correct it?
Any advice would be appreciated.

The rear sight is adjustable as well to a degree. You will need to remove the screw, rear sight leaf and make sure not to lose the elevation adjuster piece. Just drift that threaded dovetail piece inside opposite of the way you would adjust the front sight to further out the zero.

Have you looked through the bore? If it looks straight, then you can try to move the rear sight in the direction you want the shots to move, and the front sight in the direction the shots are off. i.e., rear sight to the left, and front sight to the right.
How much? Measure the sight radius (distance between front and rear sights)
8"/50yd=x/R where x is the total amount to move both sights, and R is the sight radius. Solve for x. move front sight 1/2 x to the right, move rear sight 1/2x to the left.

My Cooey 75 R is 606mm or about 23.858 (rounded) inches, 50 yards is 1800 inches. Works out that you need to move the sights about .106 inches total, or each sight about 50 thou of an inch. Which is actually quite a bit.

However: The rear sight isn't really compatible with being moved side-side, and the front sight is in a pretty tight dovetail, but it's the part that has to be moved - Question, does the front sight look like it's centered above the bore? (check when unloaded, of course) and then it needs to be adjusted .100(ish) in the direction the shots are going off..

How is the crown?

Rear sight could be bent via pliers. Physically don't need to push it side to side, but bend the V notch as in twist it.

I have a question ? have you looked at the front sight and checked to make sure it's identical to your other two rifles ? I bought a rifle off a guy one time and I'm glad I talked him down on the price . the sights aren't correct. it shoots a very tight group but high and to the left or right . oya I have killed all kinds of skunks with this 22 rifle so he told me . ya right . check both sights and make sure that they are period correct. just thinking .
