Hey just wondering if anyone has ordered a flintlock kit from sitting fox customs, specifically one of their blanket gun kits.
Would love a fun little project, but not to sure about the import situation right now.

An absolutely horrible kit. I would avoid them at all costs. It’s easier to build a gun from scratch. Assembled two in the last 10 years.

I have been talking with builders on other forums and they say they are hit and miss on quality
What is the specific problem? - these components don't look any different than anyone else's L&R locks for the most part - not my first choice. I see only one barrel maker specified (Jaeger/Rice) but it's easy enough to call and find out.

My experiences with "bad kits" are the castings - each supply house seems to have someone different casting their parts (not all the same) and other than (expected) rough sand castings all the issues I had were with German silver parts - must be something unique about casting GS.
Other than that "pre-carve" stocks are always sketchy and take more time to fix than starting fresh....

I always thought that a short NW trade gun would be a cool way to get into building black powder rifles. No idea where to start though, so I’ll be watching this thread to see what people recommend.

Fair enough, I'd be up for one making one, do you know where i would get a 10-14 inch muzzle loader barrel?

I would definitely avoid them. I ordered a NW trade gun kit a while back, and had problems with it.
The barrel was inlet 1/2" too far back so the touch hole would end up 1/2" forward of the breech face, and the lock inlet was too big in spots.
