I am sitting here watching the deer out the window and it struck me that archery season for deer opens in less than a week.:)
I suppose I should go and check some stands and clear some brush, Chilly brought the tractor down and cut the food plots three weeks ago. I need to check over my equipment and fling some bolts.:(
I have a sore back from paddling the Otonabee and shooting geese on Saturday... I think I will exercise my executive privilege and call the young guys in to do the stands.;)
You fellas all ready to arrow your deer?

Archery has been open since Aug. 28th here in Manitoba. and i believe it closes around dec 2 for the part that I hunt. I never got a deer yet, i'v only been out a handfull of time due to school and work taking up most of my time. I thought archery was open early everywhere. Good luck!!

In Ontario it opens in the southern districts on October 1st and closes the 31st of December. Some central and Northern districts open on the 15th of October. Lots of tags are available and it is a great primer for the gun hunt.
I think I am going to try and shoot a fawn early this year... lots of twins and triplets in the food plots... then hold out for a wall hanger.;)

I was out with one of my buddies yesterday and hung a few stands and cleared some brush on some old stands. I also need to go fling some bolts, probably tommorow. I also need to figure out which stand to use opening day (wind will be the deciding factor).

I put my big 2 person ladder stand out about two and a half months ago to give them some time to get used to it, then the trail cameras went up about two weeks after that.... Getting some half decent shots of does and a few bucks, nothing trophie size yet, biggest was a six pointer, but he had some weight on him. Been flinging arrows in the back yard for a month or so now every couple of days. Putting some attractant out in front of the stands on thursday.

Have a good one!

Can't wait, gear is by the door. Hunt on Amherst Island near Kingston. Polluted with deer and I have 2 extra tags avaiable for the pair of us hunting. Poor 556nato is going moose hunting, guess I will have show him pics when he gets back.

where we moose hunt deer is open as well :dancingbanana:

I'm almost ready. Stands are hung, shooting lanes are clipped, yardages marked..........the whole deal.

My only problem is I'm contemplating an arrow size change. I'm currently shooting 2117's and I might go to a lighter 2212. Not exactley the right time to be making any changes but I want a little more speed.
