Size before or after SS Media cleaning???

Isn't carbon harder than steel? Ill clean rifle brass, so the expander isn't getting pulled over all the grit. I lightly lubricate the inside of a rifle case neck after cleaned. Pistol brass gets belled, then crimped from the outside so I usually don't clean pistol brass, unless is really dirty from laying around on the range.

My usual approach is to offer my opinion and leave, but what the heck.

Graphite is a popular neck lube. What's it composed of? Carbon!

I know that several stages of a through cleaning of their brass is for some people part of their "religion of reloading". Facts, other people's experiences and approaches, really anything that differs from the particular dogma of their beliefs is unwelcome. That's ok. It's your time, and your equipment and you need to stay in your comfort zone.

In the words of the famous philosopher Forrest Gump: "and that's all I have to say on the subject".

clean, decap, clean, size, clean, it gets kind of annoying to clean brass 3 times....

Maybe I should just do a quick tumble in warm water first, then oven dry, lube, size and decap, then SS clean.
twice separating the pins is really an annoyance.

9mm brass only gets one cleaning though.
Then into the press for one step loading, and then just an alcohol spray rub in a towel to remove excess lube before storage.

223 brass prep takes forever.

^^^when I bring home dirty range brass with mud in it, I'll swish it around in a bucket of warm water to get most of the crud off it,

I tend to agree thankfully I limit the amount of rounds I load for

first off I clean the bass this is because i want to see the temperature line on the neck as it is being Annealed this is step 2 then comes the sizing after which I know I have to clean primer pockets, also with the lube from sizing on there i have been known to tumble for a short time but all the time. then do final powder load and push in bullet until ogive length is reached. 1 thing I do which is different is after all rounds are loaded and put into what even boxes or plastic holds you have I vacuum pack them at this point the shine will stay there for long time! and you know it has not been compromised with moisture. Some people laugh others agree.

Cleaning first makes sense for all FL sized cases. Its not only external contaminants, but primer residue inside the case that can damage your dies. Primer residue is known to contain glass, sand and other hard materials.
