I'm from small town Ontario , and although I'm within driving distance of several pretty decent gun shops , none of them carry this SK (German) .22 ammo. I've read reviews and watched the videos on this stuff and I'd like to try it. I know at least 2 of our site sponsors carry it , and seem to sell a lot of it . I'm just frustrated I guess. I like to support the local gun shops . I also like to buy ammo face to face and not pay shipping fees. If it's good ammo , why doesn't more shops carry it? It would be nice to be able to buy just a box or two , of each kind , do some testing , go back and get a bunch of what works best. I know , yada yada yada , same old story.
I just wish I could buy what I want locally , instead of choosing from what's on their shelf.
Well , that's my rant . Was it good for you too?

I have the same issue. I finally picked some SK Standard plus up at the Calgary Easter gun show. Was surprised at how greasy it is. Makes for an interesting time loading mags.

SK is popular in Canada, used in biathlon training and smallbore matches. For Olympic-level shooting, competitors use Lapua products and Eley.

Our local CTC has it in stock usually and I believe, any CTC that carries ammo can order it in for you! It is very accurate, especially in my sporter type .22's, my sons CIL 180, loves it!

Yes cci, standard velocity is great in some of my .22 and not so much in others, I found federal bulk is very good also, but not in all rifles, you definitely need to try them all, with any luck your rifle will be accurate with the cheap stuff! The sk is not that expensive and you are not buying it to plink with, moreso to target shoot, so a couple boxes last longer!

bobddbldr is correct in that one must try different product in .22s for performance. SK is popular in sporting rifle matches and lower level match competitions.
It is inexpensive match ammo - good bang for buck.

good to know. RWS Special Match does the same thing to me and i hate it. i was about to pick up some SK to try but i guess i wont and stick with Eley which has been performing quite well for me.

I obtained one 50 rnd box of SK from a fellow member of my gun club to try in my gun. It shot slightly tighter groups than what I had been using . I don't mind the slippery lubricant feel to them , but I test fired 5 different brands of ammo in one session , and the SK had the only fail to fire out of all of them. 3 of them were duds out of 30 rounds fired. No duds from Blazer , Federal bulk pack , Eley sport , or Winchester GT dynapoint . Maybe it was just a bad batch , but that ain't good . This was my first time trying SK standard plus. So , I liked it for accuracy in my Mossberg 144 LSB , but not impressed with the reliability. I will probably buy one brick to try before I make a final judgment .

I have used two cases(10,000 rounds) of SK Standard Plus in the past few years, and they have shot very well in my rifles, with no fail to fire issues at all.

Very greasy ammo, loading then trying to handle gun after is a sport all in its own.. unless you carry a hand washing station with you and use it on every reload

Update.... I did buy a brick of the SK standard plus. There has been no issues whatsoever with this batch. It's accurate , and not one fail to fire out of several boxes fired . Perhaps the first box I tried was stored improperly or something. It was also in a different box I noticed (with a hole in a bulls eye). So probably much older stock. I like it a lot. It tightened up my groups a tad.

SK Magazine, now discontinued, was greasy. SK Standard Plus is no more greasy than other match ammo and is amazingly popular with target rifle shooters.

I've been using it for about 10 years, though not so much anymore. Up until about 5 years ago it was always accurate and consistent for 100 yd benchrest shooting. Since then I find it varies in consistency. Some batches are good, some produce too many fliers. (Most of it, however, seems to be pretty good at 50 yds).

I suggest if you find some that works for you try to buy more of the same lot number. That is not always easy to do, especially if you buy online.

I've switched to Center X which delivers the consistency that SK+ used to, though at a much higher price.

I wish for world peace, and cheap, accurate, non-corrosive, soft-core milsurp ammo. So far I don't see anyone beating a path to my door.

Hopefully somebody will come along and grant your wish, but don't hold your breath. :)

Actually , after a couple of conversations with my local gun shop owner , he now stocks SK ammo. This shop is 3 miles from my house. Things work out , if you help them along sometimes , and your close to being realistic. Good luck with your plethora.
