anybody use sk rifle match and if so is it an upgrade from sk standard +. if not any recommendations for mid grade ammo that doesn't break the bank. would like to buy a case. looking for an upgrade from what I usually shoot.

Rimfire ammo doesn't work like that... What your rifle prefers to shoot trumps the "grade" and price of the ammo once you're into SK standard +, Eley Target, RWS Target Rifle, etc. I've got half a brick of Eley Tenex that has so far shot 3/4-1" groups at 50 yards in all the rifles I've tried it in, and some Lapua X-Act @ $25/box of 50 that hasn't done anything special.

Buy a box of 50 SK Rifle Match, shoot some test groups, compare to SK Standard Plus results, and go from there. I'd be very hesitant to buy a whole case of any one type of ammo without testing it first.

problem is shipping small ammounts add up. so far the best in my ani and cz is the sk standard+. my ani doest seem to like the two types of eley I have.i was hoping sk rifle would shoot well as it likes standard+.

^^

my One anschutz shot the sk standard better then the match.

My one savage shot high velocity hallow points better then eley match.

The rifle will tell you.

Happy testing.

Based on my experience, I would expect SK Rifle Match to be an upgrade from most of the ammo you listed. I have found SK Rifle Match to be the most universally successful ammo among my various .22 rifles and a great value for the money. It's not always the most accurate ammo for a particular rifle, but it almost always shoots very well.
My 10/22 bench rest rifle does best with Tenex, but SKRM is a close second (for a fraction of the price). My Anschutz MPR shoots best with X-Act but again SKRM is a close second. I wouldn't bother buying a 50 round box, order a brick - chances are you will find at least one rifle that likes it.

Here are 2, 50 yd targets shot with SKRM using a 10/22 Take Down and an Adaptive Tactical 9" barrel:

pretty nice groups from your cz. my cz cz 452 won't do it yet with the ammo I have tried. my ani is close but I get too may fliers with standard+ opening the group into the high 3's and 4's. will have to order some sk rifle match.

In my model 64 MP R, the rifle match has an edge over the SK standard. I find CCI SV and the SK standard to be pretty close, with the SK having a consistency edge over the CCI. The rifle match beats both.

I do find I get an occasional flyer with SKRM, but at $8+/- per box rather than $25+/- per box I can live with that. Check out the bottom right target (#4) below for a real world example (in case you are wondering - in this case - the flyer was ammo related and not my oops):

This is a qualifying RFC 10/22 50 yrd game target (they allow you to average the best 3 out of 4 groups which makes it easier to qualify with cheaper ammo like SKRM). I highly recommend trying the RFC 50yd Game to anyone with a 10/22 who is having trouble qualifying with the CGN 50 yd challenge, a bit of positive reinforcement along the way is always a good thing :)

I use SK Rifle Match and Standard in my CZ 455. The rifle match performs marginally better than the standard, so I use the match for competition and standard for practice. I've heard the SK Pistol Match, which is cheaper than Rifle Match, performs pretty good but have yet to test it. I buy all my .22 ammo from Tesro.

Hey there, Asmir here form Tesro. SK Pistol match generally does not outperforms Sk Rifle Match. SK Pistol Match is made with different needs in mind as pistol shooters are also looking at the function part as well and are not as demanding on precision part as rifle shooters. That being said I do have some customers that are shooting in in their rifles. Also, there is Sk Biathlon Sport which is just little faster than SK Rifle Match. Some folks looking at distances beyond 100 yards found that little bit of extra velocity made a real difference.

However as mentioned before, best is to test and see what your rifle likes and stock up on that.

Happy Shooting!

I tested four different lots of SK Standard plus and then tested the SK Rifle match. The case I bought of the best shooting lot was well worth the extra cost of SKSP. Substantially less flyers. 25 shot groups were at or slightly above moa groups at 100 meters.

My experience has been with HIRSCH and Target Shooting Products.
Both will but together samples of ammo and if you had a brick it will cost about $30.
The last case from TSP was $60 for shipping.
The other alternative is to order a case but two bricks of each lot. With the higher grades of Eley and Lapua the velocity is in the lot number.
If I were going to buy a case for testing HIRSCH would put together five or more lots with lot numbers starting at 25 through 29. By putting a "3" in front of those numbers you would have your velocity in meters per second . . . 325 = 1066 fps. donnamiddleton@ns.aliantzinc.ca is the lady to deal with at HIRSCH. Peter at TSP is your go to guy and his email is peter.gunguy@gmail.com.
Five members in our BR50 group split two brick of X-Act and not one of us had good results. Some use Center-X and Midas, others use Eley (TEAM, EDGE, MATCH and TENEX) and some use Federal Match and RWS R50.
If you don't systematically test a box of each lot you are always starting over.
There may be better value in testing 5 - 10 lots and shipping one brick that taking a chance on an untested case.
Both Peter and Donna will ship lot number samples and hold back a case for two weeks. If your test is not done in two weeks your testing will be for naught as they can't hold 5 lots aside forever.

sk standard+

I have started shooting my .22 outdoors after a long winter in the basement at the local gun club. Most of the shooters use SK standard + downstairs, with good results at 25 yards.

I was not happy with that ammo when outside, and got a sampler pack of SK rifle match and SK biathlon. Both of those gave me smaller groups than the standard +, with the biathlon giving the smallest at 100 yards - at 50 they were very similar. Not surprisingly, both are about 10% more money than the SK standard + ammo. One of the fellows got a box of CCI high velocity rounds (in a nice plastic box) but gave up when the holes were not showing up on an 8.5 x 11"paper target at 100 yards. I have enough magnification to see the rounds digging up the mulch all around the target - but seldom on it!

I shoot an Anschutz 1710 HB with a Nightforce 15-55 scope.

The ballistic data from SK does not tell me why the biathlon ammo is 'better' - http://www.sk-ammunition.com/en/products/shot-cartridges.html
