Skeet in the Edmonton Area

There is a solitary skeet field at the Edmonton Gun Club, but I seldom see it in use. The dedicated skeet shooters I know now go to Camrose (Camrose Shooting Sports Association, P.O. Box 1172 Camrose, AB, T4V 1X2) but you have to join the club to shoot. Most of the skeet shooters seem to have migrated to sporting clays at Beaverhill.

NASA (the club that ran the Strathcona range) is not dead and is currently pursuing land in the county of Leduc. The club still owns all the equipment from the old range so a resurrection is possible, but it is a slow process. In addition, the Alberta hunter training group (AHEIA) has stated its intention to build a range in the Edmonton area that will include skeet.

AHEIA sure resurected the dead Calgary Trap and Skeet Club and turned it into a class facility!:)

The Edmonton Trap Club....has a field without equipment....it was sold in 2006 I think. So that location is gone.

Would anyone have an update on facilities relating to replacing Strathcona or maybe the AHEIA plan mentioned below?

Also, how does Spruce Grove stack up for shotgun sports?

The Canadian Historical Arms Society - CHAS- does have trap fields at the Genesee Range in Leduc County. The equipment is a little dated but works well. You can also bring your long guns for ranges up to 700 Meters.

Sherwood Park's Strathcona range shoots Trap Sunday's at 12noon - 3pm; and Wednesdays 6pm - 8pm
Great fun, good group of guys shooting

Yup, that's right - but I believe you're talking about Sherwood Park Fish & Game (Strathcona was the range that the City of Edmonton forced to close).

See http://www.spfga.org/ for the SPFGA details...

Spruce Grove has skeet, trap and sporting clays, membership is $136.00 for a family for the year.
Not international Trap, we don't quite have the distance for that.
